Chattahoochee Technical College now offers a new scholarship opportunity for students in its Horticulture program thanks to the Cherokee County Master Gardeners who presented a $1,000 donation to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation on Nov. 21 at the Cherokee County UGA Extension Office.
“We gladly accepted this generous donation from the Cherokee County Master Gardeners,” said Stephanie Hubbell, Chattahoochee Technical College Director for Alumni and Annual Giving. “The $1,000 donation will be used to establish an annual scholarship that our Horticulture students can apply for beginning with the spring 2018 semester.”
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the Chattahoochee Technical College Horticulture Program, have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, have demonstrated financial need, and meet other necessary application guidelines specified by the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation. Preference also will be given to students who are residents of Cherokee County.
The Chattahoochee Tech Horticulture program facilities are located at the North Metro Campus in Acworth and feature more than 3.5 acres of lab space and commercial equipment along with more than 2,000 square feet of heated greenhouse space. Chattahoochee Tech faculty with real-world industry experience teach students in this nationally accredited program which now features a new certificate program in Sustainable Urban Agriculture.
