Cherokee County firefighter Jacob Gunter was commended on Wednesday, Feb. 28 for being the first Cherokee Fire Paramedic to pursue and obtain an associate degree from Chattahoochee Technical College through the College’s partnership agreement with Cherokee Fire Emergency Services.

“I have always wanted a degree and this was the perfect opportunity to obtain that goal,” said Gunter, who noted that he still wants to further his education and pursue a bachelor’s degree. He received his associate degree from Chattahoochee Tech in January 2017.

Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather presented Gunter with a Letter of Commendation and said, “You set a great example for others to follow and take advantage of the credits our paramedic training program is now receiving from Chattahoochee Technical College.”
