An endowed $1,000 scholarship opportunity to be awarded annually is now available for single-parent students at Chattahoochee Technical College thanks to an endowment provided to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation by the nonprofit organization 10 Women of Hope, which is based in Cobb County.
“We are so grateful for this group’s generous support of single-parent students at Chattahoochee Technical College,” said Chattahoochee Tech Advancement Coordinator Amanda Henderson. “The mission of 10 Women of Hope ties right into the mission of the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation to make a positive impact that can change lives.”
The dynamic group of Cobb County community leaders who constitute 10 Women of Hope include Lamuriel Peagler Adams, Patsy Bryan, Wanda Callahan, Angie Davis, Jean Hawkins, Laurel Kovach, Linda Palmer, Jacki Payne, Michelle Sams and Penny Warren.
“Through their fundraising initiatives like the ‘Girl’s Night Out’ event coming up on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Marietta, they have been very successful in raising funds to support single-parent families,” noted Henderson. “We encourage the community to support them in their important mission. They truly are making a difference.”
“This new scholarship at Chattahoochee Tech could not be possible without the previous support and donation from Re-Connecting with Families,” said Penny Warren of 10 Women of Hope. “This money originally was earmarked to honor a great lady in our community – Joan R. Murphree, a longtime guidance counselor at Marietta High School. She helped so many young people, and we want to honor her legacy with this new scholarship.”
The Chattahoochee Tech Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that supports the college by working diligently to help make higher education an affordable reality for students at Chattahoochee Technical College.
