The Chattahoochee Technical College Board of Directors and the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees both received awards at Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) annual Fall Leadership Conference held recently in Savannah.
For the fourth year in a row, the Board of Trustees received Role Model Foundation Board Certification from the Technical College Foundation Association (TCFA). Along with this award, the college’s Board of Directors received recognition for every Board member having completed a certification process administered by the Technical College Directors’ Association (TCDA).
“These awards represent the diligent efforts of both the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors to serve our college community,” said Chattahoochee Technical College President Ron Newcomb. “We are very grateful for their hard work to support the mission of Chattahoochee Technical College.”
In order to achieve Role Model Board Certification, all members of the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation Board of Trustees must be actively engaged in the work of the board, through participation in organizational meetings, college events, leadership activities, fundraising initiatives and professional development. The Chattahoochee Tech Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that partners with businesses, alumni and community leaders to make higher education an affordable reality for students.
Members of the Chattahoochee Technical College Board of Directors are automatically members of the Technical College Directors’ Association of Georgia. The mission of the TCDA is to build the capability of local boards of directors to effectively increase the real and perceived value of technical and adult education in Georgia. Several steps are necessary to become board certified by TCDA. As part of the process to achieve the status of certified board member, the board members are required to attend workshops which include a focus on community advocacy and understanding the legislative budgeting process, as well as the governance and financial management of technical colleges.
